About Our Diocese Missionary Dept

Our History

In the local congregations of the Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ, women’s missionary groups had been formed as early as 1919 by the founder, Bishop R.C. Lawson, as he was directed by the Holy Ghost. However, it was not until September 8, 1923 in New York City, New York that the National Missionary Department was organized by the Executive Board of the National Convocation of the Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ of the Apostolic Faith, Inc.The Women’s Missionary Department was created to aid the Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ (COOLJC) as a living body of Christ to carry out the acts of the saints in the beginning of the Biblical Apostolic Church; to give the missionary women an opportunity to be helpers together with the ministers and pastors in bringing souls to Christ; to be a comfort to those in need; to visit the orphans, the sick, and the widows; to give godly counsel in the fear of God; and to support the missionaries who have proven themselves worthy in obedience, are true to Christ and the Church and are sent out by the Executive Board at the general session of the National Convocation.

Our Mission

It is the mission of the International Missionary Department of the Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ to do more effective work for the Lord. Its commitment is to constantly strive to serve the Lord and one another in holiness, loyal dedication to the word of God, through prayer, fasting, witnessing, consecration, sacrifice, and love.

Our Purpose

This department was created for the purpose of aiding this church as an organism, to perpetuate the doings of the saints in the beginning of the church; that is, to make an opportunity for the missionary women to be church; that is, to make an opportunity for the missionary women to be helpers together with our ministers and pastors in bringing souls to Christ, and comfort to those in need: To visit the widows, orphans and sick give godly counsel in the fear of God, and teach the younger women to be chaste godly counsel in the fear of God, and teach the younger women to be chaste keepers at home, and so walk, shunning the very appearance of evil, that the gospel be not blasphemed. Additionally, our purpose is to labor together with the brethren in establishing churches and spreading this truth, as those women in the churches of old were helpers of Paul. Phil. 4:3
